Seven members of Company B, 3rd Battalion, 142nd Assault Helicopter Battalion were credited with the saving a man’s life.

Meghan Polis, Chief Warrant Officer 2 and Associate in Municipals at Drexel Hamilton, received the New York State Conspicuous Service Medal when the helicopter she was flying completed a search and rescue of a pilot in a deadly plane crash on February 26, 2017.
According to the United States Army, the New York State Conspicuous Service Medal is awarded for those who distinguish themselves by exceptionally meritorious service in a capacity of great responsibility.

Polis reflected, “We were in the right place at the right time and did exactly what we were trained to do. As guardsmen, we’re ordinary citizens trained to be extraordinary.”

“Those of us who have worked with Meghan were not surprised at her handling of the situation. Her attention to detail and willingness to help those around her in any situation has made her a tremendous asset to our firm, and obviously those traits were also vital to her response and that of the entire Guard,” expressed Tom Mead, Managing Director of Municipals and Chief Operating Officer at Drexel Hamilton.
